NOT EVERYTHING ON THIS LIST IS REQUIRED ON EVERY DIG - THIS LIST IS JUST AN OVERVIEW OF WHAT YOU MIGHT NEED

 

Always check on the particular dig you are headed to for special needs and concerns.

 

SAFETY

 

1. ALWAYS USE

    Common Sense

 

2. Water

 

3. First Aid Kit

 

    Soap, Antiseptic,

    Bandages, Antihistamines,

    Scissors, Hydro-cortisone,

    Knife, etc.

 

4. Eye Protection

 

    Protection from flying

    debris & UV Protection

 

5. Appropriate Clothing

 

6. Sunscreen & Bug Spray

 

7. Cell Phone w/car charger

 

8. Hard Hats

 

9. Blankets

 

10. Personal Medication

 

     Aspirin, Tums,

     Blood Pressure,

     Decongestants...

 

CLOTHING

 

1.   Footwear

      (hiking boots,

      steel toed boots,

      waders,

      running shoes)

 

    Always check the

    Dig Site for special

    Requirements.

 

2. Gloves

4. Appropriate Clothes:

    Long pants (shorts are

    ok for collecting but

    not for mining) and/or

    long sleeved shirts.

 

5. Change of Clothes

    (be aware of the

     seasonal weather)

    (the ones with guards

    (for wrapping your

     fragile specimens)

    (if distance is a concern).

    electrolytes are helpful

    Jumper Cables,

    tow straps, etc...

 

 

 

 

Not all the items listed are necessary all the time, use common sense. Safety comes first for yourself and the people around you. If you are in a group stay within the group and if necessary to leave kindly advise someone of where you are going and when you are returning.
